چکیده

Oxygen activation is a key step in the selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides with ammonia (NH3-SCR) over Cu-chabazite. We present direct measurements oxygen adsorption at low temperatures [NH3?Cu?NH3]+ complexes and framework-bound Cu+ species Cu-chabazite Si/Al=14 using isothermal microcalorimetry combined mass spectrometry. The enthalpy change for O2 200 °C determined to be ?79 kJ/mol. By fitting Langmuir isotherm, corresponding entropy ?142 J/(mol*K) 10 % O2. results show that more facile than on species. experimental are agreement density functional theory calculations showing lower barrier as compared

Temperature adaptation of enzymes: roles of the free energy, the enthalpy, and the entropy of activation.

The enzymic reactions of ectothermic (cold-blooded) species differ from those of avian and mammalian species in terms of the magnitudes of the three thermodynamic activation parameters, the free energy of activation (DeltaG()), the enthalpy of activation (DeltaH()), and the entropy of activation (DeltaS()). Ectothermic enzymes are more efficient than the homologous enzymes of birds and mammals ...

Entropy–enthalpy compensation as deduced from measurements of temperature dependence

The concept of entropy–enthalpy compensation has exercised a peculiar fascination for biochemists since it was first proposed.[1, 2] The idea is that if a particular rate constant or equation constant is measured for a series of sample of the same enzyme from different sources, the variations in enthalpies of activation or of reaction will largely cancelled out by variations in the correspondin...

Ground Thermal Diffusivity Calculation by Direct Soil Temperature Measurement. Application to very Low Enthalpy Geothermal Energy Systems

This paper presents a methodology and instrumentation system for the indirect measurement of the thermal diffusivity of a soil at a given depth from measuring its temperature at that depth. The development has been carried out considering its application to the design and sizing of very low enthalpy geothermal energy (VLEGE) systems, but it can has many other applications, for example in constr...

Enthalpy-entropy compensation at play in human copper ion transfer

Copper (Cu) is an essential trace element but toxic in free form. After cell uptake, Cu is transferred, via direct protein-protein interactions, from the chaperone Atox1 to the Wilson disease protein (WD) for incorporation into Cu-dependent enzymes. Cu binds to a conserved C(1)XXC(2) motif in the chaperone as well as in each of the cytoplasmic metal-binding domains of WD. Here, we dissect mecha...

Geophysical Methods for Monitoring Temperature Changes in Shallow Low Enthalpy Geothermal Systems

Low enthalpy geothermal systems exploited with ground source heat pumps or groundwater heat pumps present many advantages within the context of sustainable energy use. Designing, monitoring and controlling such systems requires the measurement of spatially distributed temperature fields and the knowledge of the parameters governing groundwater flow (permeability and specific storage) and heat t...
